About me

Hi! I am Phoebe.

The heart and hands behind Arc & Hearth.

I am a special needs educator, early intervention specialist, and music teacher who believes that every child deserves more than just a plan. They deserve a story that makes room for who they are.

With a background in child psychology and inclusive education, my work is rooted in empathy, structure, and creativity. Whether I am supporting a child with autism in building regulation, helping a non-speaking child find their first words, or guiding a parent who feels lost in the system — I meet each child and family where they are, and walk with them from there.

At Arc & Hearth, I blend evidence-based practice with trauma-informed care, parent collaboration, and sensory-rich, child-led learning. I specialise in designing meaningful 1:1 intervention, coaching overwhelmed caregivers, and creating safe spaces for emotional growth.

Alongside my work in early intervention, I am also a trained musician and ensemble instructor. Music has always been another language I use. It is also a tool for co-regulation, emotional expression, and joy. Whether we are tapping to a beat, naming feelings through sound, or grounding with melody, I use the arts to help children connect with themselves and the world around them.

This work is not just my profession, it is deeply personal. I hold each child’s dignity and story with care, and I walk with families through the hard, the messy, and the beautiful parts of growth.

Let’s build something warm, structured, and full of possibility together.

MY  VALUES

MISSION:

To nurture each child’s development through trauma-informed, structured, and creative intervention. To empower families with tools, knowledge, and confidence to support their child beyond the session.

VISION:

A world where every child is understood, not fixed. A world where families feel supported, included, and celebrated in their child’s story.

CORE PHILOSOPHY:

Connection before education. Every relationship begins with trust. Every child learns best when they feel safe, seen, and supported.

____________________________________________________

A calm, thoughtfully prepared space designed to support your child through regulation, connection, and meaningful engagement.

Sessions at Arc & Hearth are not built around compliance or rushing through tasks. They are designed around your child's nervous system, readiness, and way of engaging with the world.

Through play, movement, and carefully structured experiences, I work on  the often unseen foundations of learning - attention, regulation, flexibility, communication and participation.

Each session is responsive and personalised, meeting your child where they are, while gently supporting them forward.

What Each Session Includes:

  • 90-minute 1:1 session

  • Play-based, sensory-integrated approach

  • Personalised activities based on your child's needs

  • Ongoing adjustment within the session (not rigid programming)

  • Caregiver updates with written session notes and photos/videos where appropriate

  • Practical strategies to support carryover at home

Regular sessions support:

  • Greater familiarity and safety within the space

  • Stronger co-regulation and engagement over time

  • More consistent progress across sessions

  • Deeper understanding of your child's needs and patterns

Stories

from My Work

DISCLAIMER. NOTE ON PRIVACY

All names are used with care, and stories are shared respectfully with details adjusted to protect confidentiality.

I began supporting E* as his shadow teacher in a mainstream preschool, where my role was to help him integrate into class routines. Very quickly, I realised his support needs were too high for integration alone. Instead, I balanced shadowing with direct teaching — focusing on sensory regulation, toileting, communication, and structured play, while giving him opportunities to join peers when possible.

E*  had a speech delay. He made many sounds and noises, but his words were not yet functional for communication. Over time, with gentle prompting, sensory play, and structured routines, he began to use words in more meaningful ways. His biggest breakthrough was the day he came to me, pulled my hand, and said, “Teacher, come” to bring me to the playground. For a child who had once struggled to use language to connect, that moment carried enormous weight.

Each morning began with structured sensory play, which became his predictable routine. Before long, he would go straight to the sensory bag himself, pulling out what he wanted. That sense of choice gave him confidence and regulation.

As our sessions continued, E*'s task tolerance grew steadily with positive reinforcement, he achieved toilet training, and he became more cooperative with structured learning. After six months, I handed him over to a special needs school with a clear transition plan, knowing he was ready for the next step in his journey.

TESTIMONIALS

Teacher Phoebe has been a wonderful influence on my son. She brings great energy and liveliness to her teaching, which helps her connect with him on a deeper level. Through her guidance, he has learned to better understand and manage his emotions.

He especially enjoys the creative tasks she designs, which not only engage him but also support his emotional development in a meaningful way. Teacher Phoebe has also taught himhow to respond appropriately in different situations, helping him build valuable life skills.

Most importantly, it’s clear that she genuinely cares for him—he always looks forward to her
classes with excitement. We’re truly grateful for her dedication and positive impact.
